The pulp mystery fiction novels were all about sex, murder, vice, mystery, and apparently buckets of CORPSES. I was Googling away for a specific, unrelated image and it led me down a rabbit hole of 1940’s and 50’s corpse titles.
I can’t blame them for overusing the word corpse (Middle English corps, from Anglo-French cors, corps, from Latin corpus), it’s one of my favorite words too.
